What if the same Republicans who ran both of George Bush’s campaigns and who are now in charge of John McCain’s campaign were working for the Democrats – ANY Democrat – and running against John McCain as the opposing candidate? As new President Barack Obama said on Wednesday,
“The question isn’t whether you’re better off than you were four years ago, the question is whether you’re better off than you were four weeks ago.”
Unless you are in the repo, liquor or foreclosure business the answer is no.
“President Barack Obama” you ask? Isn’t that pushing the presumptuous envelope a mite? Perhaps you’re thinking, “arrogance much?”
Not really. It’s my job to be ahead of the curve and deal with what’s coming next.

Among the blatant BS that passes for talking points by pro-carbon advocates for offshore drilling like HockeyPuck Palin herself, is that drilling today employs such modern, clean, safe technology that it’s not fair to say there’s any danger of spills like the one that ruined Santa Barbara’s beaches back in the day.
But what these truth-deprived oil-hungry energy experts don’t want you to think about is accidents that modern technology doesn’t mean jack squat to. Damaging oil spills like the “accident” that happened in San Francisco Bay last year, or the one where the Captain of the Exxon Valdez crashed his tanker into the rocks up there in Russia’s next door neighbor – Alaska (and that was even before texting!)
Just last month we had another perfect example of just how safe from oil spills we all are here in the modern super-secure era we live in.

The Kaweah Cottage we’ve been staying in was designed to accommodate solar panels. The Cottage is perfectly situated for unobstructed power generation and James Seligman, the owner and our host has everything – including the wiring – in place for a solar system – everything that is except the financing. It’s not going to be cheap, but eventually he’ll get it done. That’s just another thing James and I found we had in common.
I really enjoyed meeting James and getting to spend some time talking with him. He’s a righteous dude, a fellow Mac user, filmmaker, peace lover and progressive environmentalist, just like your pal the Creative Greenius.

There is a bear in the woods but he does not know we are here, which is why we are able to take his photograph and not have to run the hell the other way. The wind is blowing in the correct direction, which is to say towards us and not towards the bear. And so today on my 51st birthday I get to live for yet another day. It is a good day to be alive.
Debra and I stood and watched the bear for a few minutes and then we decided to turn around and go back the way we came. The bear does not care that we are here but apparently the deer we later run into have an issue to pick with us.

Greetings from Kaweah Cottage, our gorgeous green getaway in the rural Sierra Foothills outside of Sequoia National Park. After nine straight months of working and Greeniusing I needed a break and more importantly I needed to spend some time up in Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks.
If I don’t get up to Sequoia, or Yosemite or Big Sur and into the forest at least once a year then I start to go a little squirrely and feel like my life has no real purpose or direction. So I make it a point to get me to the woods whenever it’s been a little too long.
I’ll proudly cop to being a treehugger and tell you honestly that I’d rather hug a tree than hug most of the people I meet out there who are far more useless than trees as they merely suck up oxygen and supply none. They typically supply nothing else worthwhile either…but let me not get myself all worked up, after all it’s that kind of real world news that I’m here to escape from. Serenity now… Serenity now…
